I recently had the joy of photographing Sam and her beautiful family once again, this time during a golden hour outdoor session. There’s something about the light during those final moments of the day that adds an extra touch of magic, and Sam’s family brought that magic to life with their energy and love. The wide-open space we chose was perfect—allowing the kids to run, play, and even dance while their dog, Bear, joined in on the fun.

What I love most about outdoor family photography is how naturally moments unfold. There’s no need to force anything, and with Sam’s family, the connection between them was effortlessly clear. The way they played, laughed, and just let go created some of the most genuine moments. These are the kinds of memories I cherish capturing as a family photographer in Melbourne.

Bear, their lovable dog, was right there with them, running through the fields, wagging his tail in joy. His presence made the shoot even more special—there’s nothing quite like the bond between a family and their beloved pet. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the light became soft and golden, wrapping them all in a warm glow. It was a photographer’s dream and a perfect reminder of why I love golden hour sessions.
