I recently had the joy of photographing Sam and her beautiful family once again, this time during a golden hour outdoor session. There’s something about the light during those final moments of the day that adds an extra touch of magic, and Sam’s family brought that magic to life with their energy and love. The wide-open space we chose was perfect—allowing the kids to run, play, and even dance while their dog, Bear, joined in on the fun.
What I love most about outdoor family photography is how naturally moments unfold. There’s no need to force anything, and with Sam’s family, the connection between them was effortlessly clear. The way they played, laughed, and just let go created some of the most genuine moments. These are the kinds of memories I cherish capturing as a family photographer in Melbourne.
Bear, their lovable dog, was right there with them, running through the fields, wagging his tail in joy. His presence made the shoot even more special—there’s nothing quite like the bond between a family and their beloved pet. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the light became soft and golden, wrapping them all in a warm glow. It was a photographer’s dream and a perfect reminder of why I love golden hour sessions.
I feel incredibly honored that Sam chose me again to document this chapter of their story. It's the second time I’ve photographed their family, and each session feels like a new adventure, filled with its own unique moments. Capturing the laughter of their children, the quiet smiles shared between Sam and her partner, and the pure joy of Bear was such a privilege. I truly believe that natural family photography should reflect who you are in your most honest and connected moments, and that’s exactly what we achieved here.
As an outdoor family photographer, I love when a setting gives families the freedom to just be themselves. There’s no rush, no pressure—just the simple joy of being together in a beautiful space. It’s in those in-between moments where the magic truly happens: a playful twirl, a burst of laughter, or a quiet, shared look.
Being able to freeze these moments in time is the heart of what I do, and I am so grateful to have been a part of Sam’s family journey. If you’re looking for a family photographer in Melbourne, and you want photos that capture your family as you are, full of life, love, and connection, I’d love to hear from you. Together, we can create memories that will be cherished for years to come.
